eeter here has named Chuck Corbeil vice president of marketing, a new position. He joined the chain in 1995 as director of marketing.

In his new post, Corbeil is responsible for market research, advertising, marketing, merchandising services and the company's loyalty-card marketing program. He reports to Larry Nivens, senior vice president of merchandising and manufacturing. In addition to his duties with the company, Corbeil is a member of the Food Marketing Institute's Advertising/Marketing Executive Planning Committee.

Eagle Food Centers Announces Changes

MILAN, Ill. -- Eagle Food Centers here has announced a series of executive appointments.

Frank Klun has been named vice president of support systems, responsible for the movement of product to and from the Eagle distribution center to 90 stores across Illinois, Iowa and Indiana. In this new position, he will report directly to Robert Kelly, chairman and chief executive officer.

Klun brings more than 30 years of warehouse distribution experience to Eagle. Most recently, he was assistant director of distribution for Bruno's, Birmingham, Ala. Prior to that assignment, Klun spent 29 years with Jewel Food Stores, Chicago, in various distribution, engineering and construction-management positions.

Daryl Block has been named vice president and general manager of Eagle bakery and in-store bakeries, a new position with responsibility for merchandising within Eagle's 86 in-store bakeries across Illinois, Iowa and Indiana.

He will report to Dave Norton, senior vice president of retail. An Eagle employee for 28 years, Block was named in-store bakery director in 1997.

Herb Fickel will fill the newly created position of treasurer, and will be responsible for all financial services, including tax, audit and insurance, serving 90 Eagle stores in Illinois, Iowa and Indiana. He will report to Pat Plumley, secretary and chief financial officer. Fickel has been with Eagle for seven years as manager of internal tax and audit.

Randy McMurray has been named controller at Eagle Food Centers, responsible for accounting functions and controls, budgeting and financial reporting for the 90 Eagle stores across Illinois, Iowa and Indiana. He also will report to Plumley. McMurray began his career with Eagle in 1993 as the general accounting supervisor, and most recently held the position of assistant controller.
