Moore Joins Mustard Seed

rd Seed Market & Cafe, a gourmet natural foods operation, has named Carol Moore manager of retail food service.

The position was newly created as the result of a rapidly increasing volume of sales, a company spokesman said. Previously, the company's executive chef had responsibility for retail food service as well as for the cafe. Now, with Moore's appointment, he will focus entirely on the cafe.

Moore had been the food-service director at West Point Market, also in Akron, where she was employed for nine-and-a-half years.

In her new post, Moore reports to Barbara Schenk, director of operations, and Dan Remark, executive chef.

Tyson Adds Several Positions

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Tyson Foods here has made appointments to several new key positions in its food-service marketing and sales department.

David Matassoni has been named vice president of food service sales. Matassoni has been with the company since 1981, and most recently was director of marketing and western division vice president of sales. He replaces John S. Lea, who has been named vice president of retail sales and marketing.

Robin Main Jensen has been moved from group product manager to vice president of food service marketing. She has been with the company since 1991. She replaces Kristen Fergusen, who has left the company. Matassoni and Jensen both report to Gerard Dowd, vice president, food-service sales and marketing.

Michael McNett has been named director of food-service division marketing, a new post. With the company for seven years, he was most recently director of marketing in the food-service coffee division.

Doug Wickman has been appointed director of product marketing, which also is a new post. He joined the company in 1990 and was most recently group product manager.

Lynne Kenworthy has been promoted to group product manager, replacing Wickman in that position. She joined the company in 1993. McNett, Wickman and Kenworthy report to Jensen.

Each of the new appointees will be dealing with supermarket food-service departments as well as with traditional food-service outlets, according to a Tyson spokeswoman.

Bil Mar Foods Taps Goodstein

ZEELAND, Mich. -- Bil Mar Foods, a division of Sara Lee, has named Charlie Goodstein director of business development, a newly created position.

Previously, Goodstein was Southwestern category manager for Keebler Co., Elmhurst, Ill. He was with that company for two and a half years. Prior to that he was general manager at Armour Swift-Eckrich, Downers Grove, Ill., for eight years. Goodstein's responsbilities in his new post include exploring new opportunities for sales of prepared, chilled foods. He reports to John Flood, vice president of deli.

BC-USA Names Manager

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. -- Bongrain Cheese USA here has named Dan Giacoletto to the newly created position of national promotions and merchandising manager.

Giacoletto, with 28 years experience in the food industry, was most recently director of merchandising at Orval Kent Foods Co., Wheeling, Ill., where he was employed for three years. Prior to that, he was supermarket food-service manager, eastern region, for Kraft Foodservice, Deerfield, Ill.

In his new post, Giacoletto reports to Jon Gutknecht, vice president of sales.
