y Co. here said John Standley has joined the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

He succeeds Greg Mays, who had the chief financial officer title in addition to his position as executive vice president of finance and administration; Mays retains the other titles. Standley has worked for several supermarket chains in which Los Angeles-based Yucaipa Cos. has invested, including Smith's Food & Drug Centers, Salt Lake City, as senior vice president of administration; vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Smitty's, Phoenix, before it merged into Smith's; and vice president of finance at Food 4 Less Supermarkets, La Habra, Calif., prior to its merger with Ralphs. Yucaipa is the majority shareholder in Ralphs. Standley reports to Mays.

In another change, Chris Hall, group vice president of finance, has added the title of chief accounting officer, a new position. He reports to Standley.

Stop & Shop Taps VP for Real Estate

QUINCY, Mass. -- Stop & Shop Cos. here has named Tony Colavolpe vice president of real estate, with responsibilities for the day-to-day management of real estate activities in Connecticut, western Massachussetts and Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties in New York. He continues to report to Brian Hotarek, senior vice president of real estate and development.

Colavolpe joined Stop & Shop in June 1993 after a 21-year career in the commercial real estate industry. His most recent position with Stop & Shop was director of real estate for the Connecticut division.

AG-New England Fills Position

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Arthur Heathcote has joined Associated Grocers of New England here as director of customer service, with responsibilities for overseeing all customer-service activities, including communication and education activities for and with AG-New England customers.

He reports to Dick Ennis, executive vice president and chief financial officer for AG-New England. Heathcote succeeds Tim Sweeney, who has left the company.

Heathcote was vice president of information systems and services for Associated Grocers of Maine.

AG-New England, a 50-year-old wholesaler and distribution center, services more than 450 independent retail grocers, institutions and restaurants in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont.

FMI Names Senior Finance VP

WASHINGTON -- The Food Marketing Institute here has named Lawrence G. Olsen, as senior vice president of finance, a new position. Olsen is responsible for FMI's accounting, finance, management information systems and human resource functions.

Olsen came to FMI from Price Chopper Supermarkets, Schenectady, N.Y., where he spent six years as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Prior to that position, Olsen spent 17 years as vice president of finance, treasurer and chief financial officer at Piggly Wiggly Southern, Vidalia, Ga.
