Food Lion Names Cathy Green
Lion has named Cathy Green senior vice president of fresh merchandising, distribution and quality assurance. She replaces Rob Brunory, who left the company to spend more time with his family, and reports directly to Rick Anicetti, chief executive officer of the chain. Green comes to Food Lion from its sister supermarket chain Hannaford Bros., where she most recently held the title of vice president of fresh merchandising. Green began her career with Hannaford as a part-time service clerk, while attending high school and college. She went on to hold several management positions including assistant store manager, perishables manager and store manager. In the early 1990s, Green worked as a grocery training specialist, advancing to a district manager post in Raleigh, N.C., in the late 1990s. In 2000, she became director of Hannaford's new merchandising efforts, called "Festival," which have been highly successful. In 2001, she was promoted to vice president.
Friedman's Names Catering Manager
BUTLER, Pa. -- Friedman's Supermarkets and Butler BiLo Foods announced that Margaret "Peg" Maier has been promoted to a newly created position, catering and food court manager, at Butler BiLo. As such, Maier will be responsible for coordinating all catering, business breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners, family reunions, weddings, bridal showers and baby showers, with the store's floral, gift basket, deli and bakery departments. Friedman's Supermarkets and Butler BiLo Foods have been offering fresh custom catering for more than 15 years, and Maier has been with the Friedman organization for six years, serving in various stores. Most recently, she served as catering coordinator in the deli department at Friedman's Greater Butler Mart Supermarket.
