PENN TRAFFIC REVAMPS EXECUTIVE TEAM AS 5 RESIGN
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Four vice presidents of Penn Traffic here, and the company's top lawyer, submitted their resignations earlier this month to pursue new career and personal interests, spokesman Marc Jampole said. Those who resigned include Frank Price, general counsel; Tom Kearns, vice president of real estate; Stephen Erdley, vice president of perishable merchandising; Phil Scarano, vice president of store operations; and Donald Bregande, vice president of human resources.
Penn Traffic has appointed five new vice presidents to take over their responsibilities. Ken Thompson has been named vice president of store operations. He formerly was president of Waldbaum's, a division of A&P, Montvale, N.J. Christine McMahon has been named vice president of human resources. She had been administrative executive with United Food & Commercial Workers Local 340 in New York City. Myles Dacunha has been named to the new position of vice president of fresh marketing. Dacunha had been senior director of fresh marketing for Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale's corporate stores and wholesale operations. Mike Nelson was named vice president of center store merchandising. He had been interim vice president for non-perishables for Penn Traffic. John MacIntyre was named to the new position of vice president of real estate, construction, maintenance and store support services. MacIntyre had been vice president of store operations for Penn Traffic's BiLo and Quality Markets.
The new group signs on nearly six weeks after two co-chief operating officers, Gregory Young and Robert Panasuk, succeeded Robert Chapman, who retired as Penn Traffic's president and chief executive officer.
All positions are effective immediately, except for Bregande, who submitted his resignation but will stay until January.
SIMONDELIVERS NAMES OJALA PRESIDENT AND COO
MINNEAPOLIS — Online Grocer SimonDelivers here has named Liwanag Q. Ojala president and chief operations officer. She succeeds Christopher Brown, former chief executive officer, who is now executive vice president of food distribution for Nash Finch, also here. Ojala has been with SimonDelivers since June 2004 and previously served as general counsel. Ojala is responsible for the day-to-day operations.
