Penn Traffic Makes Changes

Traffic Co. here said last week it has named Robert J. Davis as chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance.

He succeeds Eugene R. Sunderhaft, who the company said is leaving to pursue other interests. Sunderhaft, 49, was named chief financial officer in 1993 after serving in a similar capacity at Penn Traffic's P&C Foods division here from 1989 to 1993.

Davis, 43, has been Penn Traffic's treasurer for the past two years. He reports to Phillip E. Hawkins, president and chief executive officer.

In other changes, the company said four executives who worked with Hawkins at Vons Cos., Arcadia, Calif., have joined Penn Traffic in new positions. They are:

Brian Kaler, 35, -- formerly manager of operations support and governmental affairs at Vons -- as vice president of operations support, reporting to Brad Melvin, senior vice president of store operations.

Lewis Arlington, 38, -- formerly a store manager at Vons -- as director of targeted stores, reporting to Melvin.

Tim J. Cipiti, 37, -- formerly manager of maintenance at Vons -- as director of governmental affairs and re-engineering, reporting to Kaler.

Mark Motsenbocker, 40, -- formerly on special assignment as a training representative at Vons -- as director of training, development and corporate culture, reporting to Bernadette Barber, vice president of human resources.

Twin County Appoints CEO

EDISON, N.J. -- Twin County Grocers, a retailer-owned cooperative based here, said John D'Ambrosio, president of Twin County, has added chief executive officer to his title. Previously, he held positions with Wakefern Corp., Elizabeth, N.J., and Supermarkets General of Woodbridge, N.J. He was also executive vice president of Bozzuto's, Cheshire, Conn., and president of Foodtown, Kansas City, Mo.

D'Ambrosio succeeds Martin Vitale, who resigned as chairman and CEO last month in order to devote time to his 10 Foodtown stores. Following Vitale's resignation, Nicholas D'Agostino Jr., chairman and CEO of D'Agostino's Supermarkets, Larchmont, N.Y., was elected chairman of Twin County Grocers. In other changes:

Ronald Ginsberg, a retail member of the Twin County cooperative and owner of three Foodtown supermarkets, has been named president of the Foodtown board. He was vice president of the board and is a member of the board.

Gerard Norkus, owner of four Foodtown Supermarkets and a retail member of the cooperative, was appointed vice president of the Foodtown board. He is also a board member.

Nudson Promoted at Supervalu

MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here said Steve Nudson has been promoted to president of the New England region, from executive vice president of that region. He reports to Jeff Noddle, Supervalu executive vice president and president and chief operating officer of wholesale food companies.

In this new position, Nudson expands his leadership responsibilities for the New England region, which includes the company's Sweet Life, Keene, and Maine divisions.

Krasdale Taps Ad Director

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Krasdale Foods here has named Stan Sorkin corporate director of advertising and government relations for Alpha I Marketing Corp. In this new position, Sorkin is responsible for the management of the multimedia advertising and marketing programs for 225 C-Town, Bravo and Aim Supermarkets in the metro New York area, and represents the corporation's interests at the local, state and federal government levels. He reports to Robert Gewelb, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
