Harris Teeter Taps
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Harris Teeter here has announced a series of executive moves.
Larry Nivens was named senior vice president of merchandising, with responsibilities for Hunter Dairy, advertising and the procurement and selling functions for all merchandise. Nivens succeeds Joe George, who resigned last year to pursue other business interests, the company said. Nivens, who was vice president of frozens and dairy manufacturing and merchandising, reports to Fred J. Morganthall 2nd, the chain's executive vice president.
Doug Rhodes, formerly group vice president of operations, was appointed group vice president of human resources. In this new position, the company is combining various aspects of the human resource area, including Total Quality Management, training, recruiting, associate relations and personnel benefits. Rhodes reports to Morganthall.
John Hutchens, previously group vice president of operations, was named vice president for operations support. He oversees loss prevention, labor, expense management, Manager's Workbench and Project Genesis. He reports to Karen Stout, senior vice president of operations.
Grady Gresham, formerly regional director for stores in the Southern region, was named regional vice president for the Southern region. In this new position, Gresham is responsible for operations in the geographic area spanning from Nashville, Tenn., through the beach area, including eastern North Carolina and Columbia, S.C. He reports to Stout.
Food Lion Names VP
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Food Lion here has named Pamela K. Kohn senior vice president of merchandising, a new position. Kohn is one of three senior vice presidents reporting directly to Tom Smith, chief executive officer.
