Byerly's Appoints Deli Director
e has named Mary Lou Long director of delis, a new position.
Long began working for Byerly's in 1972 as a part-time deli clerk. Most recently, she was deli manager of one of the retailer's nine units and was responsible for opening new stores.
In her new post Long reports to Jeff Maurer, director of retail operations.
Berman Takes New Spartan Post
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Spartan Stores here has named Cheryl Berman, formerly supervisor of deli and bakery merchandisers, to a new post that gives her responsibility for the company's private-label meat and deli programs.
She has not yet been assigned a title.
With Spartan for nine years, Berman previously worked for D&W Food Centers here as bakery-deli manager and for Glen's Markets, Gaylord, Mich., as director of bakery-deli.
In her new position, Berman reports to Kris Duflo, meat purchasing and in-bound logistics manager.
Spartan Stores is a retailer-owned cooperative wholesaler that serves some 500 supermarkets in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
