Big Bear Appoints Executive VP, Sales

here has named Ron Flowers executive vice president of sales and merchandising. He replaces Larry Bardash, who left the company.

A 40-year Big Bear veteran, Flowers most recently was senior vice president of non-food merchandising. Flowers reports to Steve Breech, president and chief executive officer.

In other changes, Phil Williams was named vice president of construction and engineering, replacing Breech, who was vice president of real estate construction, maintenance and operations before being named president and chief executive officer last month.

Williams has 25 years experience with Big Bear and most recently was facility engineer. He reports to Breech.

Jeff Dortmund was named director of real estate, a new position.

He has been with Big Bear for 22 years in various positions. In his new post, he reports to Williams.

Delchamps Names Marketing VP

MOBILE, Ala. -- Delchamps here has named Tom Robbins senior vice president of marketing.

He succeeds Patrick Curran, who has retired.

Robbins most recently was senior vice president of operations and merchandising for Thriftway Food & Drug, Cincinnati. In his new post, he reports to Richard LaTrace, president of Delchamps.

Food Lion Taps Nail as Legal VP

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Food Lion here has named Lester C. Nail vice president of legal affairs.

Nail succeeds Bill McCanless, who was recently named senior vice president of administration, as reported.

Nail comes to Food Lion from Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark., where he was corporate counsel responsible for labor relations and employment litigation. In his new post, he will report to McCanless.
