HAGGEN PROMOTES LOBAUGH TO HEAD FRESH
has named Mike Lobaugh to the position of vice president of perishables, replacing Jeff Haggen, who was appointed vice president of real estate management for Briar Development, a company subsidiary. In his new post, Lobaugh is responsible for overseeing the directors of meat and seafood, and produce. He reports to Dave Norton, senior vice president of sales and marketing. Prior to this, Lobaugh, who joined Haggen in 1978 while still in high school, was a district director. Haggen currently operates 29 supermarkets and a stand-alone pharmacy in Washington state and Oregon under the Haggen Food & Pharmacy and Top Food & Drug banners.
UNIFIED WESTERN PROMOTES MURPHY
LOS ANGELES -- Daniel J. Murphy, senior vice president, retail support services, Unified Western Grocers, recently was assigned additional responsibilities overseeing the company's meat and service deli departments in California, as well as perishables in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington) and the company's store supplies program. As a result of the change in responsibilities, Murphy has a new title -- senior vice president of perishables and retail services. He continues to oversee the development and introduction of programs designed to help Unified's member retailers maximize sales and increase efficiencies, officials said. Murphy reports to Alfred Plamann, Unified's president and chief executive officer. A supermarket industry veteran, Murphy has more than 20 years of procurement, merchandising and retail operations experience. Before joining Unified in late 2000, Murphy served as vice president of merchandising for HomeGrocer.com.
