Wampler Names Turner

Wampler Foods, based here, has appointed John A. Turner vice president of sales and marketing. He is responsible for managing all poultry sales, marketing, and research and development departments and reports directly to James L. Keeler, the company's president and chief executive officer. Turner replaces Ruth Mack, who has joined Reynolds Metals.

Prior to joining Wampler, Turner was vice president of sales and marketing for Hatfield Quality Meats. Before that, he was president of the consumer-products division of Rich Products Corp. He is a graduate of Boston University.

Wampler Foods is a integrated provider of turkey and chicken products, primarily under the Wampler Foods brand.

Dairy Source Appoints Pair

DELAVAN, Wis. -- Dairy Source, a manufacturer and marketer of private-label cheese and dairy snack items here, has made two executive-level appointments. Both positions are newly created, reflecting the company's growing focus on retail-oriented segments of the industry.

Tony Steinmann has been named president and is responsible for the development and direction of new business. Most recently, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Berner Cheese Corp.

The company has also appointed Michael Mathias vice president of sales and marketing. As such, he will lead the company's private-label cheese program. Prior to this, he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility during 19 years at Kraft Foods, most recently as national marketing manager of Kraft's private-label cheese program.

Turkey Store Names Bougie

BARRON, Wis. -- The Turkey Store Co., a nationwide producer of boneless turkey products, has appointed Gary Bougie vice president of sales, a new position reflecting the company's initiative to concentrate sales efforts, said a spokeswoman.

Bougie, most recently vice president of North American sales for Broderbund Software, Novato, Calif., is responsible for total value-added sales revenue and all related sales activities for the retail, deli and food-service segments of the industry.

His career also has included sales positions with Kraft, Sara Lee and Oscar Mayer, among other companies. Bougie has a degree in economics from the University of Minnesota.

Barber Taps Allen as Sales Manager

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Barber Dairies, producer of fluid milk, juice drinks and related products, has appointed Michael Allen to the position of division sales manager for the company's northern division, which covers portions of Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. He replaces Michael Dodd, who has taken another position within the company.

Allen's responsibilities include all sales and branch activities. He reports to Bruce Williamson, vice president of sales and marketing.

Prior to this, Allen was sales manager at Reiter Dairy in Ohio, where he was employed for a total of 16 years. Both companies are owned by Dean Foods Company, Franklin Park, Ill., which acquired Barber in August 1998.
