Roche Bros. Taps New Executive VP

LaJeunesse has been appointed as executive vice president and general manager of Roche Bros. Supermarkets here.

In the newly created position, LaJeunesse supervises sales, marketing and store operations. He reports to Robert Annand Sr., president and chief executive officer.

LaJeunesse comes to Roche Bros. from Kings Super Markets, West Caldwell, N.J., where he served as vice president of nonperishables.

He has been in the food retail business for 28 years. His experience includes direct marketing, preferred customer programs, private-label marketing and category management.

King Kullen Appoints Two VPs

WESTBURY, N.Y. -- James Flynn and Edward J. Glackin III have been promoted to vice president positions at King Kullen Grocery Co. here.

After serving as the chain's controller for the past three years, Flynn assumes the title vice president and controller. In the new position, he is responsible for financial reporting and analysis plus new financial and operational systems controls.

Glackin, previously real estate manager, was appointed vice president of real estate. In the new slot, he will develop new store sites, locate real estate, negotiate the sale or lease of property, oversee permitting and construction and dispose of excess real estate assets in the new position. He has nearly a decade of experience as a real estate broker and manager.

Flynn reports to J. Donald Kennedy, executive vice president of finance and administration. Glackin reports to James Cullen, vice president, and the chain's real estate committee.

Bliwise Named VP at Kings

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. -- Cherie Bliwise has been named vice president of human resources for Kings Super Markets here.

Bliwise, who oversees the human resources department, reports to Jim Meister, president and chief executive officer. Ed Lowenfish, former vice president of human resources, has taken on special projects for the company and also reports to Meister.

A 27-year human resources veteran, Bliwise was most recently vice president of employee relations at Macy's.

Baker's Fills Media Position

OMAHA, Neb. -- Alicia Penas has been promoted to assistant director of corporate communications and consumer affairs for Baker's Supermarkets here.

In the new position, Penas takes over the duties of Celia Clinch Ferrel, former director of corporate communications, who left the company. Penas reports to Stephen Zubrod, vice president of marketing.

Previously the manager of the department, Penas now is responsible for communications with consumers, the media and the community. She will also manage corporate contributions, an internal publication and community relations programs. Before joining Baker's, Penas held positions at Norwest Bank Minnesota in the international and corporate banking departments.
