He replaces Randy Tyrie, who left the company to accept a position with K-Mart. Lohinetz, who joined Acme just over 31 years ago as a produce clerk, was most recently produce manager at the chain's highest-volume store, at Pike Creek in Wilmington, Del. In his new post, he reports to Don Styer, regional vice president, South Area, for the 165-unit chain.

WAC Promotes Carpenter

WENATCHEE, Wash. -- The Washington Apple Commission has named Norm Carpenter its new vice president of domestic marketing, replacing Jim Doherty, who resigned July 30 to accept another position. Carpenter has worked for the apple commission for 14 months as a regional manager and corporate accounts manager. Before that, he worked for Rosauers Supermarkets, Spokane, Wash., as the chain's director of natural foods, produce and floral. As head of the commission's domestic marketing department, Carpenter will be responsible for planning and managing retail and food-service promotional and advertising activities, and managing a 21-member field staff. He has 38 years of experience in the retail and produce businesses.

High Yield Names Nail

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- High Yield Marketing & Sales has appointed Mark Nail sales manager for organics, responsible for expanding the retail, food-service and export market for the firm's organic and non-chemical grower-members. Prior to this, he was sales manager for Natural Selection Foods, San Juan Bautista, Calif. Nail will report directly to Greg Flood, the company's president and chief executive officer. High Yield, founded earlier this year, includes a packing and distribution division, which handles grower-members' product.
