Wal-Mart Names Wood
-- Wal-Mart Stores here has appointed Clark Wood to a newly created position of western regional category manager for produce. Previously, he was corporate director of produce at Associated Food Stores, a Salt Lake City-based wholesale cooperative. With that company for 32 years, he held various management positions before being named corporate director of produce in 1990.
Now based at Wal-Mart's Corinne, Utah, distribution center, Wood will work with regional produce buyers in four additional Wal-Mart distribution centers as well as those at Corinne. He reports to Ron McCormick, Wal-Mart's director of produce.
Associated Promotes Price
SALT LAKE CITY -- Associated Food Stores has promoted Bill Price from corporate stores' retail produce director to corporate director of produce. He has been with the company for four years. Prior to that, he held various management positions with independent grocers in the Salt Lake City area. As corporate director of produce, he succeeds Clark Wood, who has left the company to accept a position with Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark. In his new post, Price reports to Richard Hardy, executive vice president, merchandising. Associated Food Stores, a wholesale grocery company operating in seven states, also owns 20 retail stores.
