WITECY ELEVATED TO PRESIDENT OF NO FRILLS OMAHA, Neb. No Frills, a 15-store chain based here, said it has promoted Fred Witecy to president. He had been executive vice president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Rich Juro, who remains chairman and chief executive officer. Witecy came to No Frills in 1994 from its wholesaler, Minneapolis-based Nash Finch Co., where he was division vice president.

OMAHA, Neb. — No Frills, a 15-store chain based here, said it has promoted Fred Witecy to president. He had been executive vice president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Rich Juro, who remains chairman and chief executive officer. Witecy came to No Frills in 1994 from its wholesaler, Minneapolis-based Nash Finch Co., where he was division vice president. “Since Fred joined No Frills more than 2½ years ago, our customers have enjoyed superior customer service and high-quality products,” Juro said in a prepared release.

SAVE MART NAMES CAPPS VP OF FOODMAXX

MODESTO, Calif. — Save Mart Supermarkets here said Frank Capps has been named vice president of FoodMaxx, the chain's price-impact stores. Capps succeeds Art Patch, who has retired. Bob Spengler, who rejoined Save Mart late last year as president and chief operating officer, said Capps has been “instrumental in developing more efficient and cost-effective store operation practices at FoodMaxx.” Capps was formerly senior vice president of northern operations for FoodMaxx. The company said no successor has been named yet to that position. Mark Tillett continues as senior director for Food Maxx's southern operations. Save Mart operates 44 units of the no-frills FoodMaxx chain — 28 in the northern division and 16 in the southern division.

BRENNAN, MILLER MOVE UP AT DAYMON WORLDWIDE

STAMFORD, Conn. — Private-label specialist Daymon Worldwide here said last week that Peter Brennan has been named vice chairman of the board, a newly created post, and Alex Miller has been named to succeed him as president and chief operating officer. Miller, who joined Daymon in 1980, most recently was executive vice president. Brennan, who joined Daymon in 1973, became the company's first president in 1992. Before that, Daymon's co-founders, Milton Sender and the late Peter Schwartz, were co-chairmen, and there was no president. Miller will report to Sender, who remains chairman, and Brennan will report to Sender and the Daymon board of directors. George Sarkis and Ed Wright, executive vice presidents, and Frank Cohenour, president of Daymon's demonstration division, report to Miller. Brennan and Miller began their careers in the supermarket industry — Brennan at Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. and Miller at Detroit-based Chatham Supermarkets.

DELHAIZE GROUP NAMES HOLLANDERS EVP OF HR

BRUSSELS — Delhaize Group here said last week said Nicolas Hollanders, 44, has been named executive vice president of human resources and organizational development. He will assume the organizational development function of Joyce Wilson-Sanford, executive vice president of strategic organizational development and learning, who plans to retire July 1, and the human resources responsibility of Michael Waller, executive vice president, human resources, general counsel and general secretary, who retains his other responsibilities. Hollanders will report to Pierre-Olivier Beckers, president and chief executive officer, Delhaize Group, and will be a member of the executive committee. Hollanders, a Belgian citizen, began his career as a lawyer and worked for a leather-goods manufacturer and then for executive search firm Egon Zehnder International before joining Delhaize.

KROGER NAMES SEVERIN VP OF CORPORATE BRANDS

CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. here said last week that Linda Severin has been named vice president of corporate brands, a newly created position, effective Jan. 29.

Severin, 43, joins the company from ConAgra Foods, where she served as vice president of marketing. She previously has held leadership positions at Campbell's, Dean Foods, Sara Lee and Rand McNally. She reports to Don Becker, executive vice president of merchandising.
