Scolari's Appoints Merchandising VP
& Drug here said Richard Peschke has been named vice president of merchandising.
Peschke has held positions with Retail Systems Consulting, Naples, Fla.; P&C Food Markets, Syracuse, N.Y.; and Thriftimart, Los Angeles. Most recently he was a consultant to and investor in AAA Blind Factory, an interior-design and window-covering company in Gainesville, Fla.
He reports to Joey and Jerry Scolari, chief executive officer and chief operating officer, respectively.
Earth Fare Names President
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Earth Fare, which operates three natural-food stores, has named Michael Cianciarulo president and chief executive officer.
Cianciarulo, 50, spent the last 32 years working for Gooding's Supermarkets, Apopka, Fla., including seven years as president and chief operating officer. Gooding's said it has not yet named a successor.
Earth Fare, whose store banners call it "the Healthy Market and Cafe," operates stores of 20,000 square feet here and in Charleston and Greenville, S.C., with additional stores planned for the Carolina area, Cianciarulo told SN. "I came here to help grow the company, and we hope to have a couple more stores open before the end of the year in the Carolinas," he said.
C&S Wholesale Taps Senior VP
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers here has appointed Paul Moshevitis senior vice president of warehouse operations, a new position.
Moshevitis, formerly vice president of distribution services, is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the company's 10 distribution facilities. He reports to Nat Silverman, senior vice president of operations.
The company said it will not fill Moshevitis' former position as vice president of distribution services. However, it named Peter Fiore vice president of warehouse operations, a new title, with responsibilities for overseeing the company's five New England distribution facilities in Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut, which were formerly part of Moshevitis' responsibilities.
Moshevitis continues to oversee five other C&S facilities in New York and New Jersey, the company said. Fiore, formerly manager of C&S' perishables facility in North Hatfield, Mass., reports to Moshevitis.
Big V Fills Development Slot
FLORIDA, N.Y. -- Big V Supermarkets here has named Tony Scibelli director of organizational development, a new position.
Scibelli, formerly manager of training and development for the 32-store chain, is responsible for employee involvement, customer satisfaction and communications in addition to his prior duties of training, development and staffing. He reports to Don Trella, vice president of human resources.
Baker's Unveils New Position
OMAHA, Neb. -- Baker's Supermarkets here said Christie Scott has been named product sampling manager, a new position.
She will be responsible for coordinating in-store product sampling promotions and demonstrations at Baker's 23 stores in Nebraska and Oklahoma. Scott, formerly value force coordinator (product sampling manager) for Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan., will report to Bill Loneman, senior director of grocery marketing and merchandising.
