Valu Merchandisers Name Director
chandisers Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated Wholesale Grocers here, announced last month the hiring of Joseph J. Maslak as director of pharmacy operations.
Maslak replaced Doug Stone, who left VMC, a supplier of health and beauty products, general merchandise and seasonal items to over 800 retailers. Maslak reports to Jay Goble, vice president of merchandising.
In his previous position, Maslak worked since 1985 with Big Bear Stores, Canal Winchester, Ohio, under the same title.
Maves to Head CHPA in October
Washington -- Michael D. Maves, M.D., M.B.A., will be the next president of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association when James D. Cope steps down in October after 38 years with the association.
Last month, the CHPA board of directors unanimously approved Maves, the current executive vice president of the American Academy of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery, a 12,000-member professional association based in Alexandria, Va.
