Parker in New Whole Foods Post

ds Market here has named Russell Parker national purchasing director, a new position.

Parker, who has been involved in the food industry since 1981, was purchasing director for Mrs. Gooch's, a seven-store natural foods operation acquired by Whole Foods last year.

As national purchasing director, Parker will coordinate the company's regional buyers, organize national buys and promotions, and direct private-label distribution and inventories. Parker will continue to oversee the purchasing department of the Mrs. Gooch's stores in southern California and he will be based in Whole Foods' Los Angeles regional office. Parker reports to Peter Roy, president and chief operating officer.

Parker began his grocery career in 1981 with the Tucson Cooperative Warehouse in Arizona. Whole Foods operates 38 stores in eight states and is the nation's largest retailer of natural and organic foods.

Winn-Dixie Unit Appoints Stubbs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kevin Stubbs has been named assistant controller of the Winn-Dixie division here.

Stubbs, who joined Winn-Dixie Stores in 1985, most recently was a member of the chain's internal auditing team at headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla. As assistant controller in the Louisville division, Stubbs will supervise 55 associates and review financial statements each period. Stubbs succeeds Steve O'Reilly, who left the company. He reports to Rafe Sanson, division controller.

Additionally, Jim Wells has been named advertising manager of Winn-Dixie's division here. He succeeds David Peterworth, who has left the company.

Wells, who was a production artist in the division's advertising department, reports to Nelson Rodenmayer, marketing director.

Winn-Dixie's Louisville division operates 58 stores in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, including a new, 43,000-square-foot Marketplace unit that opened last week outside Lexington, Ky. The Lexington Marketplace is the first Marketplace with Winn-Dixie's new mauve-and-teal color scheme to open in the Louisville division.

Albrecht Taps Costing Manager

AKRON, Ohio -- Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Co. here has named Kimberly Fulks manager of retail costing and auditing, a new position and one of several recent changes in the retailer's buying and accounting departments.

Fulks will oversee and audit retail deals presented to food and general-merchandise buyers. She also will be responsible for retail payables of invoicing and the costing of products purchased.

Fulks, who formerly worked in the retail department of accounts payable, reports to Sam Stites, senior vice president of marketing and sales.

Mary K. Brady has been named manager of retail administration, a new position.

Brady is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of product costing and pricing and retail scanning files. She will direct all support services for the chain's buying staff.

Brady was head cashier at one of the company's stores. She also reports to Stites.

Additionally, Linda F. Brown, formerly manager of general accounting, has been named manager of store accounting, a new position.

She is responsible for all store-level accounting functions, cash-management activities, check collection, debit memos and electronic payment programs.

Brown reports to Jim Nilsen, treasurer.

Monica Woods has been named manager of inventory accounting.

She will organize and oversee the physical inventories at the company's 36 stores, maintain general ledger accounts for store inventories and perform tax projects related to inventory.

Woods worked in the company's accounting department. She reports to Nilsen.

Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Co. operates 36 stores under the names Acme, Acme SuperCenter and Y-Mart Stores.
