Weis Markets Names Ruth

s Markets has promoted Frank Ruth to the position of director of meat sales and merchandising. His new responsibilities include overseeing all sales and merchandising activities in the meat departments throughout the 163-store chain. He replaces longtime department veteran Dale Thomas, who retired.

Ruth joined Weis Markets in 1997 as category manager for meat, and held that position until his promotion. In his new post, he reports directly to Norman S. Rich, company president. Before joining Weis Markets, Ruth worked for Giant Food of Carlisle, Pa.

Quaker Maid Names Rohr

SHILLINGTON, Pa. -- Quaker Maid Meats, based here, has named Ray Rohr regional retail sales manager. His responsibilities include oversight of key retail accounts in more than 13 Southeastern and Midwestern states, as well as establishment of new accounts and the hiring of brokers in the development of new territories. He will report directly to Tom Robinson, national sales manager, as well as Serge Szortyka, company president. Rohr previously was regional manager for Budd Foods, Manchester, N.H.

Turkey Store Taps Madsen

BARRON, Wis. -- The Turkey Store Company, a manufacturer of boneless turkey products, has named Frank Madsen director, new products marketing, a newly created position within the 77-year-old company. His responsibilities include new products development functions, as well as marketing items to retail, deli and food service channels of trade.

He reports to Raj Kaul, executive vice president and chief revenue officer. Prior to this, Madsen was president of Creative Concept Marketing, Cincinnati, Ohio. A 20-year food industry veteran, he also worked with Keebler Company, Kraft Foods and Sargento Cheese Company.
