Miller most recently served as vice president of food service and deli for Randalls. During his 16 years with the company, he had held positions within its food service and deli areas for six years, and also held positions within the operations and special projects areas.

Jim Richter, vice president of perishables, has assumed day-to-day responsibilities until a new director is named, according to the company.

Lund Taps Culinary Manager

EDINA, Minn. -- Lund Food Holdings here has named Deidre Schipani manager of culinary services, a new position.

Schipani is overseeing all in-store culinary activities in eight Lunds stores and 11 Byerly's stores, according to an official of Lund Food Holdings, the parent company of both Lunds and Byerly's stores. She will also manage the chain's school of culinary arts.

Schipani joined Byerly's as a culinary specialist in 1996.

She reports to Dale Riley, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Lund Food Holdings.

EatZi's Appoints Unit GM

DALLAS -- EatZi's, the hybrid restaurant-grocery store concept launched here two years ago, has named Kevin Blessing general manager of its newest unit, which opened April 23 in Atlanta.

Prior to joining EatZi's, he was general manager of Atlanta's OK Cafe. A family-style restaurant situated less than two miles from the Atlanta EatZi's, OK Cafe attracted industry attention two years ago when it added OK Take-Away, a takeout concept with a separate entrance in the same building as its sit-down restaurant.

In his new post, Blessing reports to Lane Cardwell, president of EatZi's.
