New CEO at K-VA-T
-- K-VA-T Food Stores here announced the promotion of Steven C. Smith to chief executive officer. Smith will also keep his previous title of president. He succeeds Jack Smith, who will retain his position as chairman of the board. Steven C. Smith joined the company in 1979 at Food City, serving in various positions, including district manager, division vice president and chief operations officer. Food City is a unit of K-VA-T.
K-VA-T also announced the promotion of Jesse A. Lewis to senior vice president and chief operations officer. Most recently Lewis served as senior vice president, distribution. Prior to that he was chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president of Consumer Market, Springfield, Mo. and executive vice president and chief operations officer of Red Food Stores, Chattanooga, Tenn.
SCHNUCK NAMES REESE VP, ADVERTISING
ST. LOUIS -- Schnuck Markets here announced the promotion of Joyce Reese to vice president, advertising. Reese has worked for Schnuck Markets since 1987 when she joined the company as supervisor, print production. She worked as manager, point-of-sale, and manager, media and sales promotion, before serving most recently as director, advertising.
Schnuck Markets here also named David Bell assistant treasurer, director of financial planning. Bell has served as staff accountant, manager, financial planning and most recently director, financial planning, since joining the company in 1983 as a courtesy clerk in Florissant, Mo.
