Ahold, Zaandam, The Netherlands, said Annelies Bouma has been appointed to the position of executive vice president of finance at Ahold's institutional food supply company, GVA/Gastronoom. Currently vice president of corporate control, Bouma will join GVA in September and her appointment as executive vice president will become effective Jan. 1.

A&P, Montvale, N.J., said last week it has named Donald J. Sommerville to the position of president of its Compass Foods division, effective immediately. Sommerville joined A&P in 1998 as vice president and general manager of Compass Foods. He continues to report to Fred Corrado, A&P vice chairman and chief financial officer. As head of Compass Foods, Sommerville is responsible for leading the effort to invigorate the company's leading brand, Eight O'Clock Coffee.
