Supervalu Taps Accounting Chief
re has appointed Sally McLaughlin to the position of director of retail accounting. McLaughlin joined the wholesaler in 1991 as retail accounting manager for the Minneapolis division. In her new post, she reports to Janel Haugarth, assistant controller.
Prior to joining Supervalu, McLaughlin was general accounting manager for Brown & Bigelow and assistant director of accounting services for Giant Food, Landover, Md. She began her career in public accounting with Brown and Redmond, Jacksonville, Fla., and KPMG Peat Marwick, San Diego.
Buttrey Adds Post Of Regional Director
GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- Buttrey Food & Drug Stores here said Geri L. Cullinan has been named regional director, a new position.
Cullinan joined Buttrey in 1981, and has held various store operations assignments, including customer service manager, produce manager, assistant store manager and store manager.
Most recently, she ran the Buttrey Food & Drug unit in Glendive, Mont. In her new role, she reports to Louis J. Rizzo, senior vice president of retail operations and store development. She also joins the company's management committee.
She now supervises a group of nine stores in eastern Montana and western North Dakota, with the managers of those stores reporting directly to her.
Cullinan is charged with achieving leadership in perishables merchandising and in customer service, the company said.
In addition, she is responsible for the operating results of her region, including achieving the sales and profitability objectives of the stores; delivering superior customer service; overseeing relations and communications with store associates; maintaining high store conditions; and the general execution of company programs.
Buttrey operates 43 stores in the Intermountain region of Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota.
Marketers Join Network Team
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Network Grocers Exchange Co., a diverter here, said two executives have joined its staff as marketing specialists.
They are Ken Gracey, former buying and export manager for Market Wholesale Grocery Co., Santa Rosa, Calif., before it was closed in 1996; and Chuck Norrell, formerly Pacific region manager for U.S. broker brands at Colgate Palmolive Co., New York.
Gracey specializes in groceries, and Norrell in general merchandise/health and beauty care. Both report to Sal Chala, president and chief executive officer at Network.
