ASSOCIATED GROCERS Names Hermanns CEO
e said last week Robert P. Hermanns has been named president and chief executive officer of the cooperative. Hermanns, who most recently was chief operating officer for Weis Markets, Sunbury, Pa., succeeds Robert Hoyt, who has been interim CEO since July 2000. Hoyt was elected to a three-year term on AG's board of directors to ease the transition, although he has returned to his position as managing partner of Partners for Corporate Renewal, a Philadelphia-based management advisory firm specializing in corporate turnarounds.
Prior to his two years as COO of Weis, Hermanns spent a year as a consultant and two years with Shopeaze.com, Santa Clara, Calif., which provided software for retailers interested in getting into online shopping. His other positions included COO of American Stores Co., Salt Lake City, and various posts with Lucky Stores in California.
Wahlstrom Division President AT ALBERTSON'S
BOISE, Idaho -- Albertson's here said it named longtime Jewel-Osco veteran Larry Wahlstrom president of its Florida division, overseeing 118 stores. He replaces Shane Sampson, who left to pursue other interests, according to a company spokesman. Also, the company elevated two vice presidents to presidents of their divisions: Jim Rice in the Southwest and Mike Clawson in the Northwest.
In addition, Albertson's last week named Eric J. Cremers senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development, a newly created position. He will report to Felicia Thornton, executive vice president and chief financial officer. Most recently, Cremers was managing director for investment banking at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, Minneapolis. Before that, he was with Pillsbury Co., Minneapolis.
