ermarkets here named Jerel Golub vice president, marketing. In this new position, Golub will oversee marketing, consumer services and market research for the chain. He reports to Tom Robbins, senior vice president of sales and merchandising. Golub will continue to be responsible for the chain's Continuous Improvement Initiative and the Golub Foundation.

Most recently, Golub was vice president of administration and strategic planning, and has held the positions of vice president, controller and treasurer.

WINN-DIXIE NAMES NEW SENIOR VP

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie last week named Mark W. Matta senior vice president, human resources. Matta, who reports to Al Rowland, president and chief executive officer, will head Winn-Dixie's human resources department and serve on the executive committee.

Prior to joining Winn-Dixie, Matta was senior vice president of human resources at OfficeMax, Shaker Heights, Ohio. Prior to that, he was vice president of human resources for several divisions of The Sherwin Williams Co., Cleveland. Also, he has held human resources and labor relations positions with such companies as Frito-Lay, Kirkland, N.Y.

FLEMING RELEASES TWO EXECS

DALLAS -- Fleming here said it has eliminated two senior executive positions as it cuts 1,800 jobs during the next few months. The latest cutbacks involved Phil Murphy, senior vice president, supply; and Tim LeBeau, senior vice president, operations. According to Fleming, Murphy's former responsibilities are being split among other members of the distributor's procurement and merchandising team. LeBeau's former duties will be shared by the two remaining senior vice presidents of operations.
