HETTINGER LEAVES STOP & SHOP FOR POST AT MEIJER

QUINCY, Mass. -- Peter Hettinger last week resigned from his post as vice president, nonfoods, Stop & Shop Supermarket Co., an Ahold USA subsidiary. Hettinger confirmed that he will start working for Meijer, Grand Rapids, Mich., next week. He referred questions about his new role to Meijer, where a spokesman said, "We can confirm that Peter Hettinger has been brought on board and will be working in our merchandising area." Hettinger said Stop & Shop is looking at various options to replace him and expects to have a decision after Labor Day. Hettinger has been with Stop & Shop for 14 years, and his tenure there has included store management positions and buying, marketing and category management responsibilities. He also was director of nonfood. "Stop & Shop appreciates Peter's contributions and we wish him well in his new challenge," said Faith Weiner, spokeswoman, Stop & Shop.
