MCDONALD'S TAPS SKINNER TO SUCCEED BELL AS CEO

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- McDonald's here last week said that Charlie Bell resigned as president and chief executive officer of the fast-food restaurant company to focus on his cancer-recovery efforts. Bell, 44, had been diagnosed with colon cancer shortly after being named CEO in April to succeed Jim Cantalupo, who died of a heart attack. McDonald's named Jim Skinner, 60, to succeed Bell as CEO, and elevated Mike Roberts to president and chief operating officer of the company. Skinner, a 33-year company veteran, had been vice chairman, overseeing McDonald's operations in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Roberts had been CEO of McDonald's USA.
