C&S APPOINTS LIVINGSTONE, NEWBOLD AS SENIOR VPS
t has named Michelle Livingstone senior vice president of transportation and Mike Newbold senior vice president and general counsel. In her newly created position, Livingstone is responsible for heading up the transportation department, including all inbound and outbound loads. She was most recently vice president of transportation for JCPenney, Plano, Texas, where she spent the last four years. Newbold is responsible for providing leadership in legal matters. He was previously chief legal officer of Wipro Technologies, Mountain View, Calif., and Bangalore, India, for two and a half years. He succeeds Carl Wistreich, who has moved on within C&S to lead the human resources team.
FORMER SAFEWAY EXECUTIVE NAMED CEO OF DUANE READE
NEW YORK -- Richard Dreiling, a former Safeway executive, has been named president and chief executive of Duane Reade, based here. Dreiling was executive vice president of marketing, manufacturing and distribution for Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., from 2000 to 2003. Prior to that, he was president of Vons, a division of Safeway, from 1998 to 2000. Dreiling most recently was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Longs Drug Stores, Walnut Creek, Calif., joining that company in 2003. In his new position, Dreiling succeeds Anthony J. Cuti, who served as president of Pathmark, Woodbridge, N.J., from 1993 to 1996.
LARKIN ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF STATE ASSOCIATION GROUP
FLEMINGTON, N.J. -- The Food Industry Association Executives here said it has elected Peter Larkin, president of the California Grocers Association, as chairman of the board for 2006. He succeeds Nancy Christiansen, executive director of the Minnesota Grocers Association. Other new officers are Jim Rogers, president and chief executive officer of the Food Industry Alliance of New York, as FIAE vice chairman, and Jerry Fleagle, president of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association, as secretary-treasurer. FIAE is an association made up of state and national associations, as well as food industry manufacturers, that seeks to improve the effectiveness of state grocery associations in the areas of public affairs, association management, and industry and community relations.
