DIMOND JOINS WILD OATS AS SR. VP, CFO
ts here last week said it has named Robert B. Dimond senior vice president and chief financial officer. He succeeds Edward Dunlap, who has served in the position since December 2001, and is now senior vice president of operations. Dimond most recently was executive vice president and CFO for Penn Traffic, Syracuse, N.Y. He previously was executive vice president, CFO and treasurer for Nash Finch, Minneapolis. Prior to that, Dimond was group vice president and CFO for Cincinnati-based Kroger's Western Region. At Wild Oats Markets, he reports to Perry Odak, chief executive officer.
TOPS NAMES HANLEY VP, NORTHEAST OHIO REGION
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Tops Markets here last week said it has named Dennis Hanley regional vice president for Northeast Ohio, overseeing 49 stores for the Ahold-owned chain. He most recently was president of Brannick International. Tops also said it has promoted Phil Kocin to district manager in the West District of Northeast Ohio. The 37-year Tops veteran has been acting in that capacity for over a year, the company said.
WAL-MART TAPS FLEMING FOR TOP MARKETING POST
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores here said it has promoted John Fleming, president of Walmart.com, to chief marketing officer, effective last week. Fleming, who spent 19 years at Target Corp. before joining Wal-Mart's Brisbane, Calif.-based Internet division in 2000, succeeds Robert Connolly, who is retiring at the end of the year. Fleming, 46, will relocate to the company's headquarters here and report to Michael Duke, president and chief executive officer of the Wal-Mart Stores division. In addition to his marketing responsibilities, which include in-store signs and displays, Fleming will continue to oversee Wal-Mart's e-commerce operation. Under Fleming's tenure, Walmart.com moved into music downloads and dabbled in selling more upscale items.
