ES3 NAMES HOBAN SR. VP, ELEVATES HAMBLETONWholesale Grocers last week said it had named Jeff Hoban senior vice president of operations and supply chain. He most recently was vice president of logistics, distribution and customer service at Heinz North America, Pittsburgh. ES3 NAMES HOBAN SR. VP, ELEVATES HAMBLETON

Wholesale Grocers last week said it had named Jeff Hoban senior vice president of operations and supply chain. He most recently was vice president of logistics, distribution and customer service at Heinz North America, Pittsburgh. Hoban also served in executive roles at Campbell Soup Co. and Johnson & Johnson. At ES3, he will direct all day-to-day operations for the logistics provider's York, Pa., grocery warehouse. He will also oversee day-to-day operations for contract warehousing and the transportation division.

Separately, ES3 said it promoted Brenda Hambleton to senior vice president, customer solutions. Hambleton joined ES3 in 2001 as vice president of integration. She was part of ES3's start-up team of executives and engineers, and has been responsible for all marketing and public relations activities. Previously, Hambleton held executive positions at Cambient, Nashua, N.H., and Information Resources Inc., Chicago.

ALBERTSONS TAPS SALES FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BOISE, Idaho -- Albertsons here said Wayne C. Sales has been appointed to serve as a member of its board of directors. He is president and chief executive officer of Canadian Tire, a gasoline retailer, and before joining Canadian Tire in 1991 he held management posts at Kmart Corp. in marketing, merchandising and operations. Sales, who fills a vacancy on the board, has been named to the nominating, corporate governance, and management development and compensation committees of the board.

GORDON NAMED INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR AT ARDEN

LOS ANGELES -- Arden Group said it has elected Steven C. Gordon as a director to fill a vacancy on the board. The position became vacant upon the death of Ben Winters in February, and the term expires in 2006. Gordon was also elected a member of the audit committee of the board of directors. He is president and chief executive officer of Domino Realty, a privately held real estate investment and development firm in Southern California. Arden said Gordon's election to the board gives it three independent directors, as required by Nasdaq. In addition, the board re-elected Robert A. Davidow as a director.
