FOOD LION APPOINTS STAPLETON AS RECRUITING VP

Prior to joining Food Lion, Stapleton was senior vice president-general manager of Lee Hecht Harrison, a Raleigh, N.C.-based career services company.

ALBERTSONS NAMES NEUMANN TO COMMUNICATIONS POST

BOISE, Idaho -- Albertsons here said Sue Neumann has been named to the new position of senior vice president, education, communications and public affairs as part of an effort to integrate internal and external communications at the company.

Neumann, a seven-year company veteran, was formerly group vice president, communications and education, responsible for internal communications, while Ertharin Cousin handled external communications as senior vice president, public relations and government affairs.

According to Neumann, Cousin opted to step down to become a special adviser to the company.

WINN-DIXIE TAPS THATCHER TO HEAD SAVERITE STORES

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores here last week named Jim Thatcher division manager of its 59-unit SaveRite Grocery Warehouse banner, overseeing operations and merchandising. He was most recently president of Southern operations for the retail division of Fleming Cos., Dallas, and president of Fleming IGA. His retail career also includes experience with Kash 'n Karry and Albertsons. Thatcher replaces Rob Rowe, who has left the company.
