In her new position, Moore is leading efforts to create and refine programs to develop organizational capability and grow internal talent through succession planning, performance management, skills development and leadership training. She also is working to align recruiting programs with company objectives and guide efforts to attract, select, hire and retain the most qualified associates. Moore reports to Darrell Johnson, senior vice president of human resources. She succeeds Bob Stapleton, who is now a regional vice president of retail operations. A successor for Moore has not yet been named. Moore has been working in the organizational development department since joining the company in 2001.

SAFEWAY PROMOTES TWO TO MARKETING PRESIDENT

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway last week said it has named David Lee president and general manager, nonperishables, and Rojon Hasker president and general manager, perishables and lifestyle. Lee most recently was senior vice president, beverages, alcohol, snacks and tobacco. He will now have responsibility for the company's nonperishable marketing functions, including grocery, home care and general merchandise, and will also oversee the company's health and wellness operation, which includes pharmacy and health and beauty care. Hasker will oversee the perishable marketing functions including produce, floral, meat, seafood, food service and bakery. She will also manage lifestyle store marketing initiatives, which feature a strong emphasis on perishables. Lee and Hasker will continue to report to Brian Cornell, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
