st week unveiled a series of management changes as part of its employee-development initiative in which the company seeks to give its leaders a broad range of experience performing different functions in the company.

The moves are as follows:

- Scott Harrison was named vice president of retail operations, Southern Division. He previously was vice president of merchandising services.

- Geoff Waldau succeeds Harrison as vice president of merchandising services. He previously was vice president of dry category management. A search is under way for his successor in that position.

- John Mercer, who was vice president of retail services, was named vice president of meat and seafood merchandising.

- Mark Messier succeeds Mercer as vice president of retail services. He was vice president of retail operations, Central Division.

- Ty Burns succeeds Messier as vice president of retail operations, Central Division. He previously held that position for the Atlantic Division.

- Gaelo de la Fuente succeeds Burns as vice president of retail operations, Atlantic Division. He previously was vice president of meat and seafood merchandising.

- Bob Stapleton was named vice president of retail operations, Western Division. He previously was vice president of organizational development. The company is seeking a successor for that post.
