SPENGLER SET TO RETIRE AS SAVE MART PRESIDENT
here said Bob Spengler, president and chief operating officer, plans to retire at the end of the year. After several years as an independent supermarket operator, he joined Save Mart in 1986 to head up the company's price-impact stores, which evolved into the FoodMaxx division. Spengler served as vice president of FoodMaxx and oversaw its expansion to 40 units. In 2003 he was promoted to president and chief operating officer, Save Mart.
NASH FINCH ELEVATES CROSS TO EVP, MILLER TO CIO
MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch here last week said it named Bruce A. Cross executive vice president, merchandising, and promoted Sarah W. Miller to senior vice president and chief information officer. Cross, who most recently was senior vice president, business transformation, succeeds James Patitucci, who has left the company, a spokesman for Nash Finch told SN. Miller, previously vice president, business process & retail services, assumes Cross's responsibilities for overseeing the IT department, the spokesman said. The CIO title is newly created. Both report to Ron Marshall, chief executive officer.
WEIDENHEIMER, WISTREICH ADD DUTIES AT C&S
KEENE, N.H. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers here said it has expanded the responsibilities of Jim Weidenheimer and Carl Wistreich. Weidenheimer, who had been senior vice president, finance, will add responsibility for product procurement and inventory management. His new title is senior vice president, finance and supply chain. Wistreich, who had been senior vice president, legal and business affairs, has been named senior vice president, legal and human resources. Both men joined the company in 1999 as vice presidents.
PATHMARK NAMES A&P VETERAN AS PHARMACY VP
CARTERET, N.J. -- Pathmark Stores here last week said it has hired Jim Finocchi as its new vice president of pharmacy operations. He spent the last 19 years with A&P in a similar capacity. At Pathmark, Finocchi will oversee all aspects of Pathmark's 129-unit pharmacy operations. He will report to Art Whitney, executive vice president of merchandising and logistics. Finocchi's hiring follows the recent departure from Pathmark of Bob Candelora, senior vice president, nonfoods and pharmacy merchandising.
