Ingles Markets, Asheville, N.C., said positive results from increased advertising and store-level improvements helped boost sales and earnings for the second quarter and six months ended March 27. Sales rose 12.4% to $442.2 million for the 13-week quarter and 12.4% to $895.5 million for the half, while same-store sales increased 9.1% for the quarter, a five-year high, and 8.3% for the first half.

Sales rose 12.4% to $442.2 million for the 13-week quarter and 12.4% to $895.5 million for the half, while same-store sales increased 9.1% for the quarter, a five-year high, and 8.3% for the first half. The company said net income jumped 23.5% to $4.1 million for the quarter and 32.6% to $8.2 million for the year to date.
