WASHINGTON -- Jim Fishkin, the lead attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in several antitrust cases involving the food industry, left the FTC last month to enter private practice.
ncluded the unsuccessful effort by Kroger Co., Cincinnati, to acquire the Texas division of Winn-Dixie, Jacksonville, Fla., in 2000, and the successful effort by Albertson's, Boise, Idaho, to acquire American Stores Co., in exchange for divesting 144 stores.
Fishkin said he plans to join the law firm of Swidler Berlin Shereff & Friedman here. It wasn't clear which FTC attorneys would take the lead position in future interactions with the supermarket industry.
