als about relocation incentives.

The closing will result in the elimination of a maximum of 198 jobs -- 94 management and clerical positions and 104 production positions -- although some people may be able to transfer to Garland, the company said.

The San Antonio facility is 465,000 square feet, while the Garland distribution center is close to 1 million square feet.

Andy Anderson, operating group president for the San Antonio and Garland divisions, said, "This decision comes after careful analysis and review of [both] operations. Our focus now is on the smooth transition of this business from San Antonio and on continuing to provide quality service and products to all of our retail customers."

Since initiating a corporate restructuring late last year, Fleming has closed seven product supply centers -- in Huntingdon, Pa.; Johnson City, Tenn.; Laurens, Iowa; Peoria, Ill.; Sikeston, Mo.; Houston; and Portland, Ore.; it also has sold one facility, in El Paso, Texas. Fleming continues to operate 33 product-supply centers (including San Antonio) -- 25 that distribute food, six that distribute general merchandise and two for convenience stores.
