FOI RAISES $60K FOR EDUCATION

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Co-sponsors of the fifth annual Friends of the Industry Dinner held here last week provided about $60,000 to Food Marketing Institute member companies and associations for scholarships and continuing education activities.

The 2004 contributions included a full scholarship payment of $15,000 to the Western Association of Food Chains, Los Angeles, on behalf of retailers and wholesalers in western states. Forty FMI member retailers and wholesalers and 10 trade associations received scholarships last week. The dinner included 250 industry executives.

Primary co-sponsors of the event and scholarships included Accenture, ACNielsen, Comag Marketing Group, ConAgra Foods, Diageo, The Gillette Co., Hallmark, Kies Consulting, Nestle-Purina, Source Interlink Cos., SPAR Group and Wrigley.
