Foodarama also said it saw performance gains in the first 39 weeks of 1999. Sales rose 17.5% to $602.3 million, net income increased 2.9% to $1.3 million, and net cash flow climbed 29.7% to $14.8 million. Same-store sales rose 8.7% in the first three quarters of 1999.

Again, the company attributed same-store sales growth to promotional activity. Total sales gains, the company added, were due to the opening of the Bound Brook location as well as to the February 1998 opening of a store in East Windsor, N.J., which replaced an older, smaller unit in Hightson, N.J.
