FOODARAMA POSTS INCREASES IN SECOND-QUARTER PROFITS

l second quarter totaled $279 million, a 9.6% increase over the same period a year ago. Earnings of $956,000, or 93 cents a share, increased 647% from $128,000.

Sales for the quarter included the operations of new locations in North Brunswick, Hamilton and Lawrenceville, N.J. The Hamilton location replaced a smaller store.

For the 26 weeks, sales of $573.8 million increased 12.1%, and earnings of $2.2 million increased 360.4% from the same period in 2003. Same-store sales increased 3.0%. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were $10.3 million for the quarter and $20.9 million for 26 weeks.
