FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Foodarama Supermarkets here last week said net income for the 13-week second quarter that ended April 30 was down more than 94%, to $54,000, compared with net income in the year-ago period.

For the first half, the company, which operates ShopRite stores in New Jersey, said net income fell 86%, to $307,000, on a sales gain of about 6.5%, to $609.6 million. Same-store sales in the 26-week span fell 1.5%.
