PORTLAND, Ore. -- Fred Meyer Inc. here and a host of its top executives last week pledged a total of $750,000 to the Food Industry Leadership Center at Portland State University, also here.
ceremonies that were also scheduled to include a commencement talk by President Clinton.
The money is a kickoff to the center's $4 million fund-raising campaign, of which $2.5 million will fund the endowment of a chair in the name of Fred G. Meyer, the company's late founder, and $1.5 million will endow the Robert G. Miller Scholarship Fund.
