FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Unique Photo Inc. here has signed a licensing agreement with Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd., allowing Unique to continue to manufacture and distribute single-use cameras.

itz, Solo's executive vice president.

The agreement, signed in July, was the first license granted by Fuji since the International Trade Commission issued its ruling in Fuji's favor regarding its patents for single-use cameras.

In that ruling, the ITC effectively barred unlicensed firms from manufacturing, reloading or distributing single- use cameras for sale in the United States.

In obtaining the license, Berkowitz said, Unique has become one of four concerns that Fuji has licensed to use its patents for single-use cameras.

"The single-use camera market is a growing category that hasn't yet become a saturated market," said Berkowitz, adding the one-time-use camera segment is expected to move more than 100 million units this year.
