LAS VEGAS -- The 14th annual GEMCON -- Global Electronic Marketing Conference -- was held at the Flamingo Hotel here Oct. 24 to 26, the first time under new ownership. Retail Systems Consulting (RSC), Naples, Fla., the consulting firm that founded and ran the event, was acquired last month by Ogden Associates, Morristown, N.J., led by Janet Murphy. Ogden has formed a subsidiary, Ogden/RSC, headed by Jon Robertson, which took over GEMCON and RSC's consulting and newsletter operations. Carlene Thissen, president of RSC, retains an active role in the new division. Meanwhile, GEMCON offered its usual array of educational sessions on electronic marketing, featuring such retailers as Harris Teeter, K-VA-T Food Stores, Clemens Family Markets, Paw Paw Shopping Center, Broadway Markets and Food Lion's Bloom. The exhibit hall was the scene of an early evening cocktail reception.
