NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- Genuardi's Family Markets here brought bakery and deli together in a huge party ad that touted the chain's cakes and deli platters for graduation celebrations.

The ad occupied one-half of the front page of the 25-unit chain's circular. It featured illustrations of mortarboards, diplomas and gift boxes. Across the top of the page, in red letters, it read, "Planning a party+for grads."
Underneath were two smaller headlines that read, "Genuardi's graduation cakes" and "Genuardi's party platters. Be a guest at your own party!"
No prices were listed for particular items. Instead, the ad featured advice such as "Choose our delicious yellow or chocolate 'pudding' recipe cake," and "Delight your guests with our sliced meats, cheeses, seafood, salads, desserts and more!"
Consumers were advised to call between 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and ask for Sherry. "She'll take your order and make sure it's ready for you!" the ad said.
