BOSTON -- Dwayne Goode of Conway, Ark., was named "Independent Pharmacist of the Year" by the National Association of Retail Druggists at its annual convention here. The award recognizes an independent pharmacist for "exemplary leadership and commitment to independent pharmacy and to the community."

The award consists of $1,000 cash, a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 scholarship donated to the pharmacy school of the winner's choice.
Goode was also awarded the 1994 "Friends of George S. Maggio Award" by the Pharmacists Planning Service Inc. (PPSI), Sausalito, Calif.
