ORLANDO, Fla. -- Retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and other suppliers gathered here last week for the annual General Merchandise Marketing Conference of the General Merchandise Distributors Council, Colorado Springs, Colo. Besides the usual frenetic pace of short meetings between buyers and sellers, attendees also heard the initial results of a major research effort, "Merchandising for Success," a project conducted for the GMDC Educational Foundation, New York, by Wisner Marketing Group.
