Beytoula and his family bought theirs at the Foodtown Supermarket on McDonald Avenue near their home.

During dinner, Beytoula discovered the lucky prize when he peeled back the label of the bottle. "I could hardly believe my eyes," he said. "I usually just toss the bottle out without checking behind the label, but this time, we checked. My whole family was cheering."

The summer promotion offers the chance to win one of five $1 million prizes paid as annuities, thousands of other cash prizes, entertainment experiences through Universal Studios and Universal Music, and free Coke.

Riddell Named Operator of Year by Piggly Wiggly

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Piggly Wiggly Company here presented two companywide awards at the annual convention of Piggly Wiggly Operators Association held here this summer. One award went to an operator, Dave Riddell, owner and operator of two stores in Savannah, Tenn., and one in Adamsville, Tenn.

The annual award is presented to the company's Operator of the Year for overall leadership, store performance, standards, quality, service, merchandising and visibility, community service and employee morale and retention. Riddell has been a Piggly Wiggly operator since 1971, and has kept nearly one-third of his employees for more than ten years.

To honor outstanding vendors and manufacturers, each year Piggly Wiggly Company presents its Great Drummer award. This year, it went to Bruce Jensen, director of national accounts for Frito-Lay, Plano, Texas. Jensen was instrumental in creating a co-marketing program with NASCAR featuring Piggly Wiggly, Pepsi and Frito-Lay.

At the national convention, Piggly Wiggly Operators Association showcased the recipients of its annual scholarship awards, giving out a record 40 college scholarships of $1,000 each.

Mini Van Contest Drives Customers to Web Site

EAST HANOVER, N.J. -- In the first ten days since Nabisco here introduced its new Mini Oreo cookies, the Web site it set up to handle entries in a sweepstakes giving away a Dodge Caravan minivan registered 11,000 guesses of how many new Mini Oreos it takes to fill the van.

The company said enough of the tiny cookies, which measure one inch in diameter and weigh only one-tenth of an ounce, will be produced during the next year to cover a two-lane highway from New York to Los Angeles, making this the brand's largest ever new product launch. Mini Oreos had a debut party at corporate headquarters here last month, then hit grocers' shelves four days later.
