Twenty five… 74%… 7 out of 10: The supermarket business relies a lot on numbers. So does health and wellness, which is what the WH Sourcebook is all about.

The Fit 25, for instance, singles out some of the best and brightest supermarket operators in the industry right now. Whether it's working with a local farm or reducing the carbon footprint of a truck fleet, these companies exemplify the ideals that make up the whole health movement.

Our fifth annual WH Asks poll reveals this number: 74% of industry stakeholders who responded to our survey believe health and wellness sales will increase in the coming year, despite the recession.

That's a pretty optimistic outlook, and it flies in the face of some industry observers who fear that consumers are abandoning the natural/organic category as they try to save money. Our poll found respondents are not only predicting sales growth, but increases in the 4%-6% range. That's down from past years, but in this economy it is a sure vote of confidence.
