WASHINGTON -- The ongoing activity surrounding food safety didn't stop Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman from moving forward with filling out appointments to various agencies working under the USDA umbrella. In the most recent announcement, Margaret O'K. Glavin was named acting administrator of the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She replaces Thomas Billy, who was named a special advisor for Codex Alimentarius Commission and international food-safety issues.
